Meet The Team
Dentists
Dr Andrew Mackintosh
Andrew qualified from Dundee University in 2013. He spent his first professional year in an implant practice in Dundee before joining the team at Templehill in 2014.
In 2015, Andrew gained the prestigious post-graduate qualification of Membership of the Royal College Of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He has also undergone additional training in providing clear invisible braces (Invisalign accredited).
In 2019, Andrew became the practice's principal dentist.
Andrew has previously carried out voluntary emergency dental care in Cambodia and the Cook Islands.
Outside of dentistry, he enjoys playing tennis and travelling.
Dr Alasdair Walker
Alasdair joined us in April 2022 after working in a practice in Stirlingshire for the past 10 years. He places a firm emphasis on conservative dentistry and the prevention of dental disease. However, he is experienced in all aspects of dentistry and takes satisfaction in getting good results and always aims for longevity and function with the more difficult cases.
When he is away from the practice, he can be found hillwalking or playing basketball with friends. While relaxing, Alasdair enjoys expanding his culinary repertoire in the kitchen, or settling down to a good movie.
Dr Leia Swan
Leia originally hails from Ayrshire and completed her dentistry degree at the University of Dundee. Since qualifying, she has worked in Kilmarnock and completed a prestigious post graduate qualification from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow. She has also undertaken further training in Invisalign and numerous other courses across the UK.
Outside of work, Leia is a very talented footballer. She has played for Dundee United and Kilmarnock ladies first teams!
Mrs Elaine Anderson
Elaine qualified as a hygienist in 1982 and joined the practice in 1991. She currently splits her time between Troon and a dental practice in Ayr.
Miss Rachael Davidson
Rachael is the practice's dental therapist, joining the team in Spring 2022. She also works in the NHS hospital service, mainly seeing children and anxious patients for fillings, sealants and general hygiene treatments.
Outside of work, Rachael enjoys travelling.
Former staff member Dr Sandy Smail
Sandy was the principal dentist of the practice during a distinguished career from 1987 to 2019.
Sadly Sandy passed away in March 2021 following a battle with cancer.
Nursing Staff
Jacqueline Mulgrew (Practice Manager)
Jacqueline joined the team in 2010 and has undergone additional training to become a Childsmile certified dental nurse. She became practice manager in 2021.
Alison McIntyre
Alison is our head dental nurse and has worked in the practice for over 35 years. She is known for her friendly, caring persona, love of dogs, the occasional wine and watching Arsenal.
Carina Macnab
Carina joined the team in 2011 and completed her training in 2013. She enjoys all aspects of family dental care.
Zoe Lewis
Zoe joined the team in 2016 after working in another general dental practice for a number of years prior. Zoe brings a wealth of experience and is known for her friendly manner. Outside work, Zoe enjoys spending time with her 3 children.
Ruth Meikle
Ruth joined us in Summer 2021 and is our friendly face at the desk. Ruth has a wealth of customer service experience having previously worked for NHS track & trace as well as Thomas Cook.
Outside of work, Ruth enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with her family and cats.
Katy Williamson
Katy joined the practice in the Autumn of 2022 and will complete her dental nurse training with us.
Amy Davies
Amy joined our practice in Autumn 2023 as a trainee dental nurse and is currently enrolled on a course at Ayrshire Central as well as working with ourselves.
She is very enthusiastic about her career and enjoys caring for the public.
